What "auto-total detection" actually does

Worth being precise about, since it's easy to oversell: once you're signed in, if a row or column's total exactly matches the sum of the cells next to it, that total gets written as a real SUM formula instead of a static number. That's the whole trick — it catches a simple, exact "Total" pattern, not tax calculations, discounts, or anything that requires understanding what the invoice means.

Your invoice isn't stored

Sent to our OCR provider only to extract the table, never saved on our servers. The spreadsheet is generated right in your browser.

Invoice to Excel — FAQ

Will it total my invoice automatically?+

Only in a narrow, specific sense, and only once you're signed in: if a row or column total is exactly the sum of the numbers next to it — the standard "Total" row or column pattern — it gets written back as a real Excel SUM formula instead of a plain number. It doesn't understand tax, discounts, or multi-step invoice math; it's pattern-matching simple column and row totals, nothing more.

Does this work on a photo of a printed invoice, not just a digital one?+

Yes. A phone photo of a printed invoice, a screenshot of one on screen, and a scanned copy are all read the same way. Quality matters more than format — a clear, well-lit shot extracts more cleanly than a blurry or shadowed one.

Is my invoice data stored anywhere?+

No. The image is sent to our OCR provider only to extract the table and isn't saved on our servers or in any database. The spreadsheet is generated in your browser.

What if a line item or amount comes out wrong?+

You get an editable preview before anything downloads — click any cell to fix it. Always check amounts you plan to rely on, the same way you would for any OCR-based extraction.
